The first video game to be played in real life
TheGrefg and Red Bull teamed up again to create an event on Twitch that mixed gaming and cinema in a novel ‘live-action video game’ format.
Can you imagine bringing a video game to real life? This is what has been achieved in the latest event for which Red Bull and the Spanish streamer TheGrefg have teamed up. An exceptional team has mixed the universe of gaming with that of cinema, in a completely innovative format: a ‘live-action videogame’. On April 20, it was released on the Twitch channel of the well-known content creator, who was the luxury player of the experience.
For around two hours, almost half a million unique viewers were able to handle him at will live, through numerous interactivities, until they faced the final villain, represented by the internationally renowned horror actor Javier Botet (REC, Alien: Covenant, It). And as in the great videogames, the experience was complemented with carefully crafted cinematics that immersed the entire community in the story of The Collector.
Behind the cameras was the direction of Daniel Monzón (Cell 211, El niño), winner of 3 Goya Awards, who also participated in the script with Marc Caballero. For the creation and execution of the videogame, several experts in videogame development and interactive programming from Twitch were also involved.
